Devoted To Things Canadian

Why Canada?

I never planned on becoming obsessed with so many things Canadian.  Heck I'm American, and we all know that America is the center of the universe.  (Just kidding!)   Even so, it's not like I gave Canada a great deal of thought.

I blame it on a TV show.  Like most Americans I'm addicted to television and one day I discovered a program on TNT called due South.  For anyone who hasn't seen it, it's a show about a Mountie who ends up in Chicago.  Before long I was hooked.

The show was produced in Canada so they used a lot of music by Canadian artists.  I liked it. Next thing you know I'm trying to find their CD's in our local music store.  No luck. Thank heavens for the internet!  Thanks to Canadian retailers on the web I was able to find the music I wanted.

It didn't end with music.   I found that I liked some of the stars on the show and wanted to see other shows they had been in.   Have you tried to rent obscure Canadian movies from your local video store?   When you live in the middle of nowhere like I do they look at you as if you're unhinged.   So once again I used the internet to find the movies I wanted.   Before you knew it I had a collection of small, independent Canadian movies and my knowledge of Canadian actors had grown tremendously.   It's not everyone who can tell if a show has been filmed in Toronto or Vancouver based on the guest stars.

From there it grew exponentially.  Soon I found myself learing about Canadian politics and watching the Canadian nightly news.   I became interested in the little known sport of Curling.   I believed that I was alone in my interest.  Once again, the internet brought me together with other people who also had a strange obsession with our neighbor to the North.

I decided to share my obsession. So point and click with me through an array of pages that will hopefully entertain as well as enlighten you.
